I’ve had this nightmare since I started photographing the desanctified church in April. After I arrange for someone to watch my kids and find another person to watch my back (the church is falling apart) and the time (I do loose track of it in there), I climb the rectory stairs and find the entrance to the church cinderblocked.

On Tuesday morning, it happened. Except instead of cinderblock it was plywood.

After speaking with many people, I learned the church is under abatement (lead?, asbestos?). Someone is supposed to call me early next week to let me know if I can get permission to go back in.

My search for a mentor continues. Two (out of five) have responded. One is too busy this fall and one left town and will be incommunicado until mid-August.

(Image above is view from church balcony into the second floor front room in the rectory.)
